UWA Motorsport Ranked Number 1 In The World!
The UWA Motorsport Team has achieved the amazing ranking of number one in the world! Even though we weren’t present at the latest competition in the UK, our ranking moved from second to first, leapfrogging Universität Stuttgart.
The Formula Student ranking list is different from the World Championship as it determines a rank based on each team’s last six competitions, and weights each achievement according to the competitiveness of the event. The end result rewards the teams which consistently perform well, not just those teams which have the resources to compete at more events.
The team is extremely happy to be number one in the world, with the news providing extra enthusiasm and motivation for the crew preparing to fly out to Germany in the next few days. However the real challenge is to remain at the summit of the world rankings after the Formula Student Germany event, which is to be held in a few weeks.
Other Aussie teams are also doing quite well, with two other universities in the top 20. RMIT is now ranked 17th and Monash University is 20th.
